Popis - THIS IS THE FUNKY PART:
Founded in 2010 by guitarist Johan Harvey and saxophonist/keyboardist Mike LaBombard, The Royal Noise forges an ebullient, high energy fusion of sinewy funk, gritty jazz and psychedelic rock, reminiscent of funk fusion acts like Herbie Hancock, Lettuce and Galactic, while drawing influence from dance/jam driven sensibilities in the vein of Umphreys McGee and Lotus. Since then, they have performed consistently across the East Coast with little regard for stylistic conventions. Their high energy performances, strengthened by the addition of bassist Rodrigo Pichardo and drummer Aaron Zarrow, deliver shape-shifting whirlwinds of tireless grooves, catchy melodies, incessant experimentation and ever-evolving, earthy jams soaked in heavy East Coast funk. The quartet’s dynamic elasticity, musical mastery and their ability to blend the lines between composition and improvisation set them apart from their peers and keep avid listeners returning to shows. For their third and most adventurous record yet, appropriately entitled 'THIS IS THE FUNKY PART', the band teamed up with acclaimed producer and engineer Pete Mavrogeorgis, who has had an integral part in producing the works of such artists as Grinderman, The National, Alice Texas, Nick Cage & The Bad Seeds, Phillip Glass, The Horrors and many more. “Chock full of spellbinding jam sessions, infectious saxophone lines, searing guitar solos and undeniable grooves, This Is The Funky Part takes the listener on an amusement park ride of an album that keeps them guessing at each and every turn, while drawing comparisons to bands in the vein of Lettuce, Umphrey’s McGee and Lotus” - HEAR Magazine “The Royal Noise resuscitates the ghost of funk with their ambitious third record. This Is The Funky Part serves up a splendid mix of rhythmic jazz and beguiling rock and roll licks, with twists of ambiance throughout, imploring listeners to dance their asses off” – Chris Pendergast, Encore Magazine “This Is The Funky Part is cheeky, sexy, suggestive and sophisticated – she’s the sort of seductress that is frankly habit-forming” – Pete Mavrogeorgis, Producer “This Is The Funky Part continues to illuminate why this Philadelphia band is a part of many conversations critics are having about prestigious young artists… pure mothership connection funk” – Kevin Tshiamala, Home Grown Music Network
