Popis - STIRRING THE CALM:
Live 1990, záznam vystúpenia z Hollywood Palladium 9. novembra 1990 (vysielaný priamym prenosom KNAC-FM).
Faith No More entered the 1990s in explosive style, undergoing a transformation from being a respected underground act to one of the world s biggest, and most important, metal bands. The process had begun a year earlier when Mike Patton had been recruited to replace Chuck Mosley as lead singer; Patton s greater versatility as a vocalist and eclectic, offbeat lyrics lent Faith No More the distinctive, singular edge that is the hallmark of all truly great bands. Music for The Real Thing was largely complete by the time that Patton came into to add lyrics, and the albums sonic palette was a major leap for the group as metal, funk and rap all coalesced easily into a new, hybrid sound that re-cast what metal could be in the 1990s. On its release in the summer of 1989, The Real Thing was showered with praise in the music press and when its lead single, Epic , was issued in January 1990 the album was catapulted to the upper reaches of the Billboard charts, just skirting the top ten and establishing Faith No More as a commercially successful, mainstream proposition. The band s next album wouldn t arrive until 1992, as they toured behind The Real Thing as an in-demand live act and steadily built their profile in Europe. An appearance at RIP Magazine s birthday party came during the peak of this critical period in the band s history. Held at the Hollywood Palladium on the 9th of November 1990 and broadcast live by KNAC-FM, the show saw Faith No More run through the best of both The Real Thing and Introduce Yourself to a raucous, celebratory audience. It s a fascinating snapshot of an unrivalled band at the zenith of their career, and will be essential listening for fans of Faith No More, those just discovering the group, and music lovers who want to understand and experience the evolution of metal from one of the genre s most important progenitors.
