Popis - FRANKIE & JOHNNY & ME:
Originally a Jersey girl, Lynn Lobban moved to Manhattan in 1969 where she trained as an actor, singer and dancer with some of the finest teachers in the business. She went on to perform in various Off and Off-Off Broadway, as well as regional, theaters. She made her way onto Broadway in the original production of the much-acclaimed musical play, QUILTERS after having played it regionally and at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. For over two decades Lobban enjoyed a highly successful career in television commercials and industrial films. It was during this time that she also met the composer and lyricist, John Wallowitch with whom she immediately embarked on a life-changing musical journey. She has been singing Wallowitch songs since1977 and to her (as well as others) they are as wonderful as any of the American standards. Barbara and Scott Siegel of TheaterMainia.com wrote in a review of her most recent show celebrating her connection to Wallowitch (entitled The Perfect Pair): 'She sings this master songwriters work with the kind of intimacy that comes from a deep experience of his art; no one, other than Wallowitch hinself, has performed his catalogue with so much respect, love, and understanding.' Lobban created five shows based on the Wallowitch songbook, the highly acclaimed PHOTOGRAPHS which she performed with Wallowitch, THE EYES OF LOVERS, FRANKIE & JOHNNY & ME (Parts I and II) and THE SECOND TIME AROUND. All garnered praise. Roy Sander of Backstage wrote: 'Meticulously crafted and performed with consummate artistry, Lynn Lobban s shows are always very special.' She crafted her debut CD, FRANKIE & JOHNNY & ME with the same love and thoughtfulness, juxtaposing some of her favorite Sinatra songs with some of her most favorite Wallowitch songs. Sometimes telling a mini-story, she carefully chose each song. She asked Wallowitch to sing his own LIZA and he also joins her in a duet, LUCKY PEOPLE. She is most proud of her appearance in the widely acclaimed film, THIS MOMENT: WALLOWITCH AND ROSS, a documentary that celebrates not only the independent and artistic lives of both John Wallowitch and the legendary dancer, Bertram Ross, but their creative and life partnership. And she was honored to be awarded a Backstage Bistro Award in 2000 for Outstanding Vocalist. On another note, Lobban was responsible for introducing 'Music Together' to New York City. In 1990 she brought the now internationally known early childhood music program (for children Birth to Four and their parents/caregivers) to Manhattan where it has thrived ever since. She tried her hand at songwriting twice and both songs have become favorites in the Music Together repertoire. Lobban has been recording the Music Together tapes and CDs for the past twelve years and can be heard as the Mommy voice on the songs and chants of all nine collections
