Popis - AS THE GODS COMMAND:
ICY STEEL are still a young and very fresh band, being originally formed in 2005, but they have already made it to the top acts of their mediterranean island Sardinia’s vital metal scene. Just as a few comrades from the motherland they have taken the road of epic to heroic sounds, having an approach to scandinavian history for the lyrics. But their mediterranean origins cannot be denied, especially during their very epic moments when they create a floating atmosphere or draw from the enchanting variety of melodies emerging from the progressive rock history of their home country. Three years after their debut album this second attack is a majestic hammer of steel, expanding the mixture of exalted emotional passages and haunting mystical bits and pieces by throwing in elements of the most traditional and direct 80s heavy metal, which reflect the spirit of the 80s metal as authentically as they could. As an example we can take a closer listen to the hard driving mid paced headbanger „Impetuous fire“, a song quite a few metalgods orignating from Birmingham would be proud of. And even though there are these hot blooded steaming lead axe attacks, ICY STEEL don’t let this track lack a heroic element, just hang your ears into the chorusline and go nuts. The combination of such heavy metal kick ass songs and lush epics that demand a close listen create the tension that makes this highly traditional, yet extremely charismatic band such an exciting act. With charme, passion and constantly sputtering creativity but definitely without the urge for success ICY STEEL conjure their eternal anthems of metal and reinvent themselves within the frame of their own sound with each song of their second album.
