Popis - URBAN HASH:
Dialects are a conscious, original musical outfit based in Philadelphia, that fuse live hip hop, reggae, dancehall & dub. Emcees Arcane & Syne are the frontmen while a live band supports their vocal stylings. Arcane (dru bayly) & Syne (brian brink) are originaly from Chicago and Cincinatti respectively and began performing and recording together when they both attended Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fl. There they began playing out live at parties and shows and recorded their first effort, a collection of demos titled 'MANTRAS.' After both graduating with degrees in philosophy and religion, Dialects re- located to Philly to pursue music fulltime. Once in the live hip hop fusion mecca of the world they began to find like minded people to get involved and forces to join up with. Upon arrival, they made their mark on the scene with their debut album, BE. Dialects then began to notice that they often shared a bill with philly based live hip-hop/ rock collective known as BurnDown. Dialects were asked to join the ranks, and have been a regular part of the performing and re- cording roster ever since. By the time the collective was narrowed down to the Burndown All Stars, Dialects were a mainstay. Since then, Dialects have continued to forward on as a indiviudual act and as part of the BurnDown All Stars and have spread their music nationwide. They have played with and opened for such acts as The Roots, Common, Yung Joc, Steel Pulse, Yellowman, The Wailers and have played such venues as House of Blues in Atlantic City, Tipatina's in New Orleans, Whiskey A Go Go in L.A. and many more memorable spots. In 2005, Dialects traveled to Kingston, Jamaica where they stayed with the legendary Hammond family, and recorded tracks with Fattis Burrell at Xterminator Records, Yogi at Fiwi Records, and Nas Hammond at Harmony House. Upon return, Dialects took what they learned in the Jamaican music scene and put together their newest release, Urban Hash, which combines Dialects vocals over all original live reggae, dub, and dancehall tracks reminiscent of mid 70's reggae from the island. The album was picked up upon release for distribution by Independent Distribution Collective in San Fransisco. Coinciding with the album's release, Dialects and the Burndown All Stars will be featured nationwide on FUSE TV's 'Bodog Music Battle of the Bands.' Tune in and see where the next year takes the bredren on their musical journey.
