His reflective melodies support the narrative of the song, which have strong characteristics and give a full range of emotions. Jim is a self-taught musician with an obvious gift for song writing. Knowing that music was his vocation in life he sold the business so he could concentrate on his own music and began to write his debut album, Elysian Fields. In 2002 he cut his teeth on the London circuit playing as many venues as possible. In April 2003 organised a concert at the Gulbenkian Theatre, Canterbury, headlining himself and supported by two local musicians. This was a great success and really helped to lift his profile. This was followed by a tour in Dublin playing at various venues such as Doyles (The Ruby sessions), The Sugar Club, Martyn B Slattery. He also performed at tower records helping the sales of his CD. In December 2003 Jim was invited to Chamonix, France to perform live on a regular basis, building his following even more. He has appeared on various radio shows including BBC WM with Jenny Wilks and BBC Kent with Simon Evans. Also on the E4 television channel, giving him national exposure.
