The 3rd of January, 1959, will always be remembered as one of the blackest and saddest days in the history of rock'n'roll. It was on that day that Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and P "Big Bopper" Richardson died in a plane crash on the way to Fargo, North Dakota, where they would perform on the 12th date of their joint 'Winter Dance Party' tour. This LP contains recordings from all the artists that were featured on the bill, including Buddy Holly, his band The Crickets, The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens (also appearing under his Arvee Allens moniker), as well as Jape Richardson With The Echos.
