Popis - LEFT OF BLUE:
During the recording of Left of Blue, the critically acclaimed musician, cellist Dave Eggar wanted tocreate a record which allowed the romantic voice of the cello to sing, whilesimultaneously fusinghis classical background with world music, Jazz and ambient rock. So intrigued washe by the success of Yo-Yo Ma's crossover projects such as 'Silk Road,' Dave's desire wasto deliver a project that crossed-over in amanner that had a broader audienceappeal, yet remained true to his love of all 'quality' music. Eggar's wishis to take the voice of the cello on a journey further than just the confines of classical crossover in an effort to create an adult contemporary alternative to Yo-Yo Ma.Eggar adds, 'I wanted the record to be a tribute to my classical roots -- but also reflect the influences of the manyartists Ihave played with both inside and outside the classical domain.' Enjoying an amazing career for such a young man, Dave Eggar has performed throughout the world as a solo cellist and pianist. Recent engagements included gigs at Carnegie Hall, The Lincoln Center Festival, London's Barbican Center Concert Hall, the JVC Jazz Festival, the Hollywood Bowl, to mention a few. A virtuoso of many styles, Dave has performed and recorded with artists in numerous genres including the Who, Michael Brecker, Evanescence, Josh Groban, Dave Sanborn, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Kathleen Battle, Breaking Benjamin, Ray Lamontagne,Eugenia Zuckerman, John Denver, Manhattan Transfer, Corinne Bailey Ray, Lyfe Jennings, Dianne Reeves, and Ornette Coleman. As a founding member of the FLUX quartet, Eggar has premiered works by Charles Ives, John Cage, Conlon Nancarrow, Frank Zappa, Elliot Sharp. Ornette Colemann, John Pattitucci, Oliver Lake, Augusta Read Thomas, Sir Harrison Birtwhisltle. He has composed extensively for classical and contemporary dance and has collaborated as composer or featured performer with companies such as the New York City Ballet, (Chris Wheeldon's Morphosen), Shen Wei Dance Arts(ConnectTransfer), Attack Theatre(Noto, Games of Steel, the Fitting Room), Rebecca Stenn Dance(Blueprint, Left of Fall, Carmen Sweets), Jose Limon Company(Moor's Pavane, La Malinche, Musical Offering), Thresh(Past-Present), and Dance Brasil. His work as a solo cellist has been featured in the films 'Accepted', 'The Last Winter', 'Claire Dolan', 'Joshua', and 'The Roost' and he has been a member of the Lo Faber Band, the Sirius Quartet, Edible Red, and the Perks Dance music Theatre. Dave is a graduate of Harvard University and the Julliard School's Doctoral Program. His list of awards and accomplishments includes accolades from Time Magazine, ASCAP, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Geraldine Dodge Foundation and the Leonard Bernstein Foundation for his work in contemporary music. In 1997, he was awarded SONY Records 'Elevated Standards' prize for his accomplishments in the field of classical music. Now with his new 'Left of Blue,' likeprevious releases with his long-time label Domo Records, Eggar wants the listener to be taken on a deep emotional journey through places both light and dark. His overall goal -- to create a record which could successfully interphase with the multiple aspects and genre's Eggar experiences throughout his live performance career. In addition, the artist had a strong wantto create tracks that could thrive inmore than one singulargenre. Eggar adds, 'This is very interesting to me in terms of audience reach and the way the project can be viewed by those within the label who are helping me expand my reach and audience base.' On 'Left of Blue,' Dave feels strongly there are tracks that will exist equally well in many formats. Always thinking 'outside the box,' the CD includes a cover tune of 'Angle of Repose' from Michael Brecker's Grammy-Award winning album, 'Wide Angles', (Eggar toured with Michael Brecker in 2004 for the Brecker's 'Wide Angles' concert tour) and an original composition written for Dave by Robert Kinkel, 'Dream in4 D'. Kinkel isa noted composer and the music director for The Trans Siberian Orchestra. The album also features guest appearances by legendary jazz pianist Gil Goldstein, heavy metal guitarist Alex Skolnick and Ajna Recording artist Tom Rossi. Dave Eggar's 'Left of Blue' is the perfect example of an artist willing to record a quality project that will take his core audience places his new audience will surely enjoy.
