A splendid CD-reissue of the 1968 LP by the legendary French
singer with a totally ground breaking style and approach. Her
influences included chansons, avant-garde, jazz, world-music, folk, psych, and more. On this colection FONTAINE takes flight over conductor Jean Claude Vannier's brilliant arrangements. Vannier, best known for his work on Serge Gainsbourg's 'Histoire De Melody Nelson', is in fine form, using what would become his trademark stylings, including lush strings, taut rhythms culled from across the globe and a healthy dose of whimsy. A breathtaking and utterly intriguing album! The CD includes liner notes by Richie Unterberger.
