While Detroit was the capital city of US soul music during most of the '60s, obviously due to the incredible success of Motown Records, it was Philapdelphia that attracted more and more attention during the late '60s and '70s. Of course this shift was caused by the establishment of Philadelphia International Records, the label that launched the careers of a.o. The Delfonics, The O'Jays, Three Degrees, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes and many, many others. This 24-track compilation is dedicated to the legacy of that incredible chapter in soul history as well as the city of Philadelphia.
