Popis - LONDON AMERICAN LABEL:
The London-American TARDIS fires up again and flies ever further back in time to bring you a comprehensive cross-section of the labels hits and misses from 1956. 1956 was when London really stepped up a gear in their leasing of US catalogue. For UK rocknroll fans it brought first releases from Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Carl Perkins. For Davy Crockett fans, London had the hit version of the TV series theme song. The Drifters had their debut UK release in 56 - on London of course - as did Andy Williams. Being a full-service label that released everything from rockabilly to pop to novelties, London was already balancing a monthly release schedule that embraced Werly Fairburn, Julie London, Cathy Carr and the Hilltoppers. Every facet of Londons catalogue is represented here, just as it was when the original 45s and 78s were released 56 years ago. We have used original London tapes where they are still available - as they were with 22 of our 28 selections. Out of the 28, nearly two dozen have never been on any previous Ace release. With the booklet containing detailed track-by-track annotation, and scans of 45s and/or 78s of each and every track, this is a collection that more than holds its own with any of its companion volumes. Why buy cheap imitations when the real deal is always so much better?
