Popis - 30 YEARS AFTER:
The German Electronics artist Robert Schroeder (discovered 1978 by EM pioneer Klaus Schulze) has produced numerous excellent solo CDs as well as his success album Double Fantasy / Universal Ave., which reached the US Charts in the end of the 80s. The music of Robert Schroeder is various, but always soulful. He combines spherical synthesizer sounds with modern rhythm-mical contrasts, often supplemented by spacey guitars and sometimes also by piano, cello or voices. Schroeder's music spectrum includes Electronic, Ambient, Chill-Out, Lounge, Adventure and Trip-Hop. Electronic Music in the widest sense is the musical style of this artist who has his roots in the music of Klaus Schulze, Can and Pink Floyd. With his legendary debut album Harmonic Ascendant in 1979 Robert Schroeder started his 30 years long career as musician and sound creator of Electronic Music. Its useful to call this new and 19th solo work 30 Years After. Music and cover artwork connects the past and present days. It was the Minimoog, the PPG, the ARP or KORG-synthesizer, which once earned us a new kind of music, which enchanted us and gave us dreams and has to be level today. Electronic Music is a new term for a new type of music since the 70s. Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk, Klaus Schulze and Tangerine Dream were pioneers, paving the way for this new music. On his new CD “30 Years After” Robert Schroeder has crossed the sounds and atmospheres of once with the current opportunities. It's been already 30 years since Robert Schroeder charms us with his music that follows constantly tangent as innovative as puzzling. And to celebrate the event, the man to thousand tempos presents an album which wants a sound flying over these 30 years. 30 Years After is not a compilation, but rather a creative fresco which represents the various rhythmic orientations of an artist who is the precursor of an EM which oriented towards the down tempo, the hip-hop and the groove electronic moods. 30 Years Before open with a short review of Harmonic Ascendant, released in 1979. Under voice ochre of a tetanused veil, Robert Schroeder explains the hazards of an area where the creativity was the major stake in the conception of EM works, with the musical theme of this cult album in the background. Slowly we deviated on the more modern tempo, but so pleasant of Hypnotics. A sequence built on percussions and a rhythmic hypnotic bass, where an E-guitar scatters its chords among a solitary piano and spontaneous avalanches of percussions, a trademark of the rhythms of Schroeder. Layers in loops, enslaved by implied choirs, overhang this musical sweetness which is molding in a spatial approach. All You Can Dream increases a little bit the pace with fine E-guitar keys and with groovy style percussions which are glazed in a captivating synth and a beautiful sensual bass. Slightly stroboscopic, sequences encircle a movement which lulls between cosmic mood and down tempo on brief oratorical raids from the German synthesist and a magnificent piano which is melting to a random sequenced approach. Here, as everywhere on the opus, the synth marries skin-tight movements and floats with a dreamy cosmic wandering reminding the first movements of EM. Percussions, little as arrhythmia pulsations, open Modifiers which roars with a biting synth. Early, the movement becomes hatched and explodes on percussions which roll as a fanciful thunder in a sphere slowed by heavy synthesized pads. At around the 2nd minute mark, the rhythm becomes steadier on a good percussion play and a loud hiccoughing sinusoidal, draped by a heavier synth. A track, which is very near the world of Chemical Brothers (from which the Schroederian inspiration is evident), that got some great punch and will make vibrate any dance floors, especially with its heavy reverberating bass. Let it Flow makes in another register with a more unctuous and softer approach. Pulsations, bass and pulsatory chords on a tempo slowed down by a daydreamer and drawling structure. It's beautiful, soft and sensual, as only Schroeder can make with its synth sparkles which surround as a finger makes wavy circles above calm water. Impetuous intro, Destination Galactica runs with oscillations in cascades coated by a catchy synth and encircled by a rotating sequence in a sonorous mould collided by percussions to strong randomly rolling. A long rhythmical title, but with fractured paces by flexible permutations, of which synthesized strata's glance through heavy hatched reverberations. A New Message is the pearl of pearls on 30 Years Before. A languishing rhythm on a E-guitar which coils its chords in the shade of a romantic nostalgia in from which the breaths get lost in the sweetness's of a slightly wavelike cadence. Floating, dreamy and magnificently soft. Pure candy for the soul and the ears. Heavy and tribal hammerings, melted to a sensual bass and a floating synth to liven brightness on cooing percussions, here is the structure of Mood Control. The longest title of Schroeder 20th album exploits a hypnotic rhythm with brief cosmic incursions. Delaying between space music and vitamin rhythms, Robert Schroeder encloses 30 Years Later with 30 Years After. A cosmic intro which is switched on by percussions which knock on cosmos doors, tempting away a pleasant and drawling tempo on a waltzing synth, of which saxophone solos perfume the atmosphere of beautiful harmonious tirades. An electronic poetry, draped by mellotron choirs which teem marvelously on an opus which wants to be a magnificent and a poetics return on the 2 career of one of the big names of the contemporary EM. (By Sylvain Lupari / Guts Of Darkness /The French Magazine of Dark & Experimental Music) All in all 30 Years After is a well mixed concept album with a lot of variety, traditional and modern electronic sounds. You will experience this CD on good headphones as exciting and varied journey - your journey. Please take your time for listening. Increase the volume and enjoy your journey through the music. 30 Years After... thank you... have great fun.
